Cambridge Primary Checkpoint tests are designed to assess learners at the end of Cambridge Primary. The tests are available for English, English as a second language, mathematics, science and Cambridge Global Perspectives. The tests provide valuable feedback on learners’ strengths and weaknesses before they progress to the next stage of education and grant schools with an external international benchmark for learner performance. Each learner is awarded a statement of achievement from Cambridge.
Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint
Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests have been designed to assess learners at the end of Cambridge Lower Secondary. The tests are available in English, English as a second language, mathematics, science and Cambridge Global Perspectives, and give valuable feedback on learners’ strengths and weaknesses before they progress to the next stage of education.
The tests in other subjects are marked in Cambridge and provide schools with an external international benchmark for learner performance. Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint Global Perspectives is assessed by teachers and externally moderated by Cambridge International.
IGCSE Examination
Wherever in the world your students want to go, IPS helps them get there with Cambridge IGCSE.
Cambridge IGCSE was first examined in June 1988 (introduced for first teaching in September 1986). At the same time, the GCSE was introduced in the UK.
Cambridge IGCSE assessment takes place at the end of the course and can include written, oral, coursework and practical assessment. This broadens opportunities for students to demonstrate their learning, particularly when their first language is not English. In many subjects there is a choice between core and extended curricula, making Cambridge IGCSE suitable for a wide range of abilities.
Grades are benchmarked using eight internationally recognised grades, A* to G, which have clear guidelines to explain the standard of achievement for each grade.
Cambridge IGCSE examination sessions occur twice a year, in June and November. Results are issued in August and January.
A Level Examination
Cambridge International AS & A Levels
Thousands of learners worldwide gain places at leading universities every year with Cambridge International AS & A Levels. The syllabuses help students develop a deep understanding of subjects and independent thinking skills.
IPS has built a Cambridge Advanced curriculum that brings success for learners. The syllabuses prepare learners for university study, which is why universities worldwide value and recognise Cambridge International AS & A Level qualifications.
Cambridge International AS & A Level develops learners’ knowledge, understanding and skills in the following:
- In-depth subject content
- Independent thinking
- Applying knowledge and understanding to new as well as familiar situations
- Handling and evaluating different types of information sources
- Thinking logically and presenting ordered and coherent arguments
- Making judgements, recommendations and decisions
- Presenting rationale, understanding implications and communicating them logically and clearly
- Working and communicating in English
Cambridge International A Level is typically a two-year course, whereas Cambridge International AS Level is typically a one-year course. Some subjects can be commenced at the Cambridge International AS Level where a student has the chance to progress further to a Cambridge International A Level. Pearson Edexcel International Advanced Levels (IAL) are globally recognised qualifications which open doors to top local and international universities worldwide. International A Levels have a modular structure, yet remain comparable to A Levels, as confirmed by NARIC*.
Pearson Edexcel International Advanced Levels have been developed in consultation with educators, including teachers and university lecturers, to ensure relevance for international learners and support their progression to universities around the world.
They differ from A Levels in that they have a flexible, modular structure, but maintain the rigorous standards of all Pearson Edexcel qualifications and are comparable to the UK A Levels, as confirmed by NARIC. All subjects (except Law and IT) offer January, June and October examination windows, giving students more options when applying to local and international universities.

SAT Examination
ANNOUNCEMENT
The SAT is an entrance exam used by most colleges and universities to make admissions decisions. The SAT is a multiple-choice, pencil-and-paper test created and administered by the College Board.
IPS will not directly register on behalf of the applicants or collect payments from applicants. Please register on the College Board website link provided above.
When registering for the test, please make sure that your name matches your proof of identification (Passport or Thai National ID). Examinees whose admission tickets does not match their identification will not be allowed to take the test.
IPS does not offer study sessions or classes to prepare for the SATs, however, free online SAT practice is available at this link: Official SAT Practice by Khan Academy.
TESTING DATES

Materials to bring:
- 2B pencils – Strictly no pens allowed. Pencil cases should be transparent and have no prints on them.
- Eraser
- Passport or Thai National ID card
- SAT Exam Admission Ticket
- Calculator (please remove the back cover)
- Clear, label-free water bottle (if you would like to drink water between breaks)
Dress code: Smart casual or school uniform. Due to COVID-19 Safety Precautions, you are also required to wear a mask. Test takers who arrive not wearing a mask will not be allowed into the school premises, and therefore will not be allowed to take the test.
Before the test starts:
- Double-check the time and date of your test, and be sure to arrive early to the test centre.
- Make sure you have all your materials and identification.
Please also make sure that the name on your exam admission ticket matches the name on your Passport or Thai National ID, otherwise you will not be allowed to take the test. For changes BEFORE the exam, more information can be found here: SAT Registration Changes
During the test and breaks:
- Do not use electronic devices or talk to anyone.
- Parents/Guardians are not allowed inside the school premises. Parking lot benches are available as their waiting area only.
