The IPS Counselling Programme was developed based on the “International Model for School Counseling Programs” created by Fezler and Brown in 2011, with feedback from international school counsellors around the world.

This model serves as a framework to develop quality school counselling programmes that show results specifically tailored to the context and the needs of international schools. The purpose of developing the IPS Counselling Programme is to ensure that every student is able to reap the benefits of the programme.

AT IPS WE BELIEVE:

  • in fostering the development of the whole child whenever possible.
  • that every student has the capacity and potential to learn, grow, and change with proper support and opportunities.
  • that all students should feel safe, supported, and accepted.
  • in celebrating the diversity and supporting our students’ personal and cultural identity.

THE IPS COUNSELLING PROGRAMME:

  • is comprehensive in scope and developmental in nature.
  • addresses the academic, career, personal and social needs of all students in a global context.
  • supports the IPS school mission.
  • incorporates Personal, Social, Health, and Economics (PSHE) education based on the National Curriculum for England.
  • aims to meet the demands of every child with his or her unique combination of needs, traditions, culture, and abilities.
  • uses appropriate data to drive programme decisions, development, and to monitor student achievement.
  • requires continual review and revision in order to meet the needs of the school.

THE IPS COUNSELLOR:

  • is an advocate for every student.
  • is available to collaborate with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and community members whenever possible.
  • is responsible for planning, designing, coordinating, and evaluating the school counseling programme with input from stakeholders (i.e. staff, parents, students, and the community).
